So, we’ve probably all heard of the saying breakfast is the most important meal of the day, right? This saying has existed for years yet many of us still struggle to identify healthy breakfast options.
Growing up, I became accustomed to cereal as a breakfast option because that is what my family regarded as a morning meal due to its easy preparation and affordability. Rice Krispies were totally my favorite! However, growing up made me realize that I was fed nonsense without even realizing. It is important to start your day off well by eating a nutritiously packed meal to keep you full for long and boost your metabolism.
Let’s check out some of the healthiest food out there to have as your breakfast meals.
1. Oatmeal
Oatmeal is one of those meals whereby you either love it or hate it, and I happen to love it. Oatmeal can be prepared in various ways. For a healthier recipe option, water is your best bet, but if you want to add some personality into your oats then milk may be used. There are many variations to choose from to cook your oatmeal. You can either boil, steam, microwave or leave them overnight. Whatever cooking option you choose, your oatmeal is bound to be filled with healthy carbohydrates, fiber and protein.
2. Eggs
Eggs are a definite eggcellent idea! They are packed with vitamins and minerals that are essential in every diet. I love how they are easily accessible no matter where you live and are relatively inexpensive too (depending on where you are based, of course). Eggs are fantastically versatile, they can be fried, boiled, baked, scrambled and poached.
3. Avocado
Avocadoes are also one of those debatable food, most love them while some despise them. If you love them, you will mostly enjoy their unique taste and texture and how they complement other meals. If you despise them, it would probably be due to their bland taste and weird mushy texture. Avocadoes are filled with healthy fats, fiber, and essential nutrients. They can be eaten as is, with a sprinkle of salt, tossed in a salad, mashed or as a delicious pizza topping that you much on while you register at Lucky Creek.
4. Banana
Besides apples, bananas are one of the most consumed fruits because of their affordability and how they’re super filling. Bananas give you energy, that’s the reason why they are recommended for athletes to keep their blood sugars up. Bananas are also one of the fewest fruits that can be enjoyed when underripe and overripe.
Benefits of underripe bananas are that they contain less sugar and overripe bananas are easier to digest. This however does not change the nutritional content of either banana type. At the end of the day, the type of banana you enjoy is ultimately based on your preference. You can enjoy your banana as is or toss it in a smoothie to create that desired extra thickness.
While there are many other healthy foods to be eaten for breakfast, I narrowed down the ones I personally found to be the most popular and versatile. There are so many other foods to experience and experiment with. Go on and have fun with it!
